(Spirit Lake)– Record high temperatures too numerous to mention were broken throughout the region Tuesday. Temperatures soared into the 50’s and 60’s. The high temperature in Spirit Lake hit 55.
The National Weather Service says even warmer temperatures are expected today…with temperatures in the mid 60’s expected.
A Canadian cold front will plow through the region tomorrow, though, bringing a strong northwest wind, a chance of flurries, and much colder temperatures. Daytime highs will drop into the 20’s the rest of the week, with overnight lows in the single digits and teens. The colder weather will persist into next week. The average daytime high this time of year is in the mid to upper 20’s.
As far as snow goes, Bill Behrends, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, says the ground will remain bare. He says there’s no accumulating snow in the forecast anytime soon.
