(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council Wednesday evening set February 12th as the date to receive bids on a couple of projects.
One of them is to rennovate the Dam Road sanitary sewer lift station at an estimated cost of between 15-thousand and 16-thousand dollars. The other is for the completion of the West Broadway trail project. Construction on that project is to start in April. It has an estimated cost of 75-thousand dollars. The city council Wednesday set May 20th as the completion date. A public hearing on the project is set for the February 12th meeting.
The council also reviewed plans for the Highway 71 enhancement project. City Administrator Ron Walker says they’re still on target for a spring start-up date. The D-O-T will hold a bidletting in March since it’s a federal aid project. Construction is to start in May prior to Memorial Day with the first phase to be completed by June 15th. The project is to start up again in mid August with completion in the fall. The project will consist of some decorative pavers and exposed concrete aggregate being installed between the curb and sidewalk along the highway; revamping the Lake Street and Highway 71 and the Broadway and Highway 71 intersections with decorative lighting; decorative retaining walls; trail segments along the highway from Dam Road to Lake Street; and Walker says there’s the possibility sprinkler systems could be installed in a few areas along the highway where they decide to keep sod. The enhancement project has a total estimated cost of 600-thousand dollars. 450-thousand of that will be covered through a state grant.
In other business, the Arnolds Park City Council directed the city’s Finance Committee to review water rates for customers outside of city limits and consider adjusting them upward.
And it was the concensus of the council to delay the Carita and Katrina streets improvement projects until this coming fall. They were originally scheduled for this spring, but council members are concerned those projects would add to traffic disruptions caused by the other projects that will also be going on this spring.
