Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges Against Spirit Lake Man

(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop has resulted in drug charges being filed against a Spirit Lake man.

Police say a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Bobby Ray Goforth of Spirit Lake was pulled over shortly before midnight Friday at the intersection of Highway 71 and 27th Street in Spirit Lake. Authorities say Goforth had been driving without a driver’s license. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up some marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Goforth was charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving while barred; driving while suspended; driving while revoked and failure to dim headlights. He was booked into the Dickinson county jail.

Spirit Lake police were assisted by the Okoboji Police Department and the Arnolds Park Police Department’s Canine Unit.
