Altercations At Spirit Lake Night Club Result In Arrests

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A Lake Park man has been charged in connection with an alleged incident late Friday night at the Marquee in Spirit Lake.

Police Chief Jon Martyr says officers were called to the scene around 11:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a man allegedly armed with a knife. Martyr says the suspect, 37-year-old Lawrence Bartley of Lake Park, had gotten into an argument with a security officer. Martyr says the knife wasn’t actually brandished. Bartley was charged with carrying a weapon.

As authorities were investigating that incident, an Estherville man was taken into custody on drug charges at the same location. 28-year-old Wade Adam Mitchell was charged with possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication, third offense. Mitchell was booked into the Dickinson county jail.

Authorities allegedly discovered the items as Mitchell was being searched. Martyr says officers had received a report that Mitchell had allegedly been seeing using the items.
