(Orange City)– An autopsy says a patient at a Rock Valley Nursing Home last year died as the result of choking on some food.
87-year-old Dick Post of Rock Valley died last April at the Valley Manor Care Center where he was a resident.
26-year-old Christine Van Oort of Rock Valley, who was employed at the facility at the time, has been charged with first degree murder in Post’s death. Prosecutors say Van Oort told investigators she killed Post.
Van Oort’s arraignment is set for Tuesday. She’s in the Sioux county jail on bond of 100-thousand dollars.
Authorities exhumed Post’s body earlier this month. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office released the findings of the autopsy today (Friday).
