(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors heard more funding requests at their meeting Tuesday.
Upper Des Moines Opportunity is requesting 16,463-dollars in the upcoming fiscal year, the same as in past years. Rohret estimates that about 1,800 Dickinson county residents and about 750 families utilize the agency’s services in one way or another. He says the most popular among them is home heating assistance and the Women, Infants and Children Program.
The supervisors also received funding requests from the Voluntary Action Center/Retired Senior Volunteer Program for 2,250-dollars–the same as in past years; and RIDES, the regional transit authority, requested 19-thousand dollars…up three thousand from last year.
The supervisors will take the requests into consideration as they start working on the county’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
