Local Communities Awarded “Branching Out” Grants

(Undated)– Several northwest Iowa communities have been awarded funding through a popular tree planting program.

“Branching Out” is a joint venture between Alliant Energy and Trees Forever. The program promotes energy efficiency and environmental awareness by planting trees. Alliant Energy provides financial support, to be matched with local funds, discounts, in-kind services and community labor. Trees Forever administers the program and provides technical on-site assistance.

124 communities have been awarded funding this year.

Locally, Arnolds Park will receive 3,250-dollars; Spirit Lake will get 1,300-dollars; Alta will receive 1,500-dollars; Bancroft will get a thousand dollars; Dolliver was awarded 500-dollars; George will get 650-dollars; Linn Grove and Peterson were awarded 500-dollars each; Sibley receives 1,500-dollars; and Whittemore will get 1,300-dollars.
