(Spencer)– The Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity is partnering with the Iowa Waste Reduction Center and the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa to provide environmental services to local businesses and industries.
Chad Shryock, Executive Director of the Corridor of Opportunity, says the program assists businesses and industries in complying with regulations from the federal Environmental Protection Administration. In addition to identifying potential violations, Shryock says they’ll also suggest ways to fix the violations to avoid what otherwise would be hefty fines from the E-P-A.
There’s no charge to businesses or industries for the IWRC program. It’s being made possible through a grant.
Shryock says letters will be sent to various businesses and industries in Spencer, Spirit Lake, Milford and Lake Park later this month asking if they would like to participate.
In addition to working with businesses and industries, Shryock says the IWRC will also meet with area students to help increase pollution prevention among young people.
