(Spirit Lake)– No word yet of any compromise between Dutch Creek Custom Farms and opponents of a four-thousand head hog confinement the company wants to build southwest of Milford near Horseshoe Bend County Park.
Assistant Dickinson County Attorney Lonnie Saunders told the board of supervisors earlier this week talks between the two sides were continuing. He also distributed a letter to supervisors, but there’s no word as to what it contained.
A hearing before the state’s Environmental Protection Commission last month on Dickinson county’s appeal of a permit the Department of Natural Resources issued for the operation was postponed. Officials said the two sides wanted more time to negotiate.
The hearing has been re-scheduled for the commission’s next meeting, February 17th in Urbandale.
