(Graettinger)– A weekend snowmobiling accident has claimed the life of an Ames man.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Donald Zitterich lost control of a snowmobile he was operating Saturday two miles south of Graettinger on the west fork of the Des Moines River.
Zitterich was transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg where he died of his injuries.
The mishap was reported around 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
It remains under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
