(Fostoria)– A Spirit Lake man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday in Clay county.
The Sheriff’s office says trucks driven by 33-year-old Kevin Cardwell of Spirit Lake and 45-year-old Jerry Sebert of rural Spirit Lake collided on 160th Avenue west of Fostoria.
Sebert was taken to Spencer Hospital with incapacitating injuries. He was later transferred by ground ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Sioux City where he’s listed in critical condition.
No injuries were reported to Cardwell.
Authorities say Sebert was northbound when he lost control and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with Cardwell, who was southbound.
Both men were driving trucks owned by Interstate Power and Light Company.
10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the 2002 International truck driven by Cardwell; a 1992 Chevrolet truck driven by Sebert was totaled.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Everly Fire and Rescue; Fostoria Fire and Rescue and the Iowa State Patrol.
The mishap was reported around 3:22 p.m.
It remains under investigation.
