Nine Year-old Boy Killed In Snowmobile Accident

November 23, 2014

(St. James, Mn.)– A snowmobile accident in southern Minnesota’s Watonwan county has claimed the life of a nine-year-old boy.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Cody James Leimer of St. James was operating a 1985 Bombadier snowmobile that hit an embankment at the bottom of a hill on a minimum maintenance road.

He was thrown off the machine.

Leimer was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man who was on the scene at the time of the mishap, 34-year-old Donald James Wolters of North Mankato, was taken to a St. James hospital. It isn’t certain if he was a passenger on the snowmobile.

The mishap was reported shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday at a public access about a mile east of Highway four in Watonwan county.
