(Spirit Lake)– Upper Des Moines Opportunity is accepting applications for the latest round of funding available through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
Laurie Ruuf of the Spirit Lake U-D-M-O office says the assistance is based on household income, household size, type of fuel and type of housing. Ruuf says the program works on a first come, first-served basis.
April 15th is the application deadline.
She says applicants should bring a proof of income and copies of utility bills from the last year or so.
Ruuf says anyone who’s received a shut-off notice from their utility provider should apply immediately. She says many utility companies won’t allow customers to use LIHEAP funds to have their service restored.
