(Estherville)– Construction of a new student center at the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College has the green light to proceed.
Following a public hearing, the college’s board of trustees Tuesday evening awarded a low bid on the project to Christensen Construction of Estherville.
Total cost is about one-point-three million dollars.
The 11,320-square foot building will include kitchen facilities, a dining room with seating for 220 people and student senate offices.
A groundbreaking will be held this spring.
The project is expected to take about a year to complete.
ILCC trustees also Tuesday evening held a public hearing and adopted the college’s budget for the 2004 fiscal year. College officials say the average taxpayer will see a four and-a-half percent reduction in the amount of their taxes that go to the college.
