Childcare Provider Sentenced

(Spencer)– A Spencer day care provider will spend some time behind bars for an incident back in 2001.

Shelly Flint was sentenced Thursday in Clay County District to a 10 year suspended prison sentence for a charge of neglect of a dependant person, a class “C” felony.

The charge against Flint was filed on June 14th, 2001 after an incident involving a three-month-old child who was in her care.

Flint will also serve five years probation, and must spend 30 consecutive days in the Clay county jail as part of the probation.

Flint is also ordered to pay restitution to the victim’s mother for lost wages and medical expenses, and was ordered to attend counseling.

Flint’s bond was set at 10-thousand dollars.
