Duncan Arraignment Postponed

(Spencer)– Arraignment for a Spencer man accused of killing his wife has been continued.

71-year-old Harold Duncan was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Clay County District Court in Spencer. But according to Judge Frank Nelson, due to an emergency operation over the weekend Duncan was unable to appear. The hearing will be held sometime in the next couple of weeks. No specific date has been set.

Duncan has been charged with first degree murder. He’s accused of shooting and killing his wife, Karen January 13th at their home in Spencer. Duncan attempted to commit suicide by shooting himself in the face but was unsuccessful.

If convicted, first degree murder carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Harold Duncan remains in the Clay county jail on a 500-thousand dollar bond.
