(Emmetsburg)– A new ethanol plant is being proposed for Emmetsburg.
The city’s Economic Development Director, Tom Alger, says Renewable Fuels Incorporated wants to build a 30-million dollar plant in the building that formerly housed Skyjack Manufacturing.
Alger says Renewable Fuels is in the process of lining up investors for the project. He says the plant will bring 40 to 48 new jobs with it, depending on some spin-off operations. Those may eventually include an aquaculture set-up and a greenhouse operation which would utilize some of the by-products generated by the plant.
The plant is expected to produce nearly 30 million gallons of ethanol annually. Officials with Renewable Fuels hope to have it operational by late this summer.
