(Spirit Lake)– A one vehicle accident on Highway nine in front of the KUOO studios early this (Thursday) morning has resulted in charges being filed against two men.
Spirit Lake police say 24-year-old Nicholas Glover of Milford was westbound on Highway nine in the inside lane when he lost control. The 1996 Chevrolet truck he was driving skidded across the road and wound up in the north ditch.
No injuries were reported to Glover or a passenger, 19-year-old Wylie Cannon of Des Moines.
Glover was charged with operating while intoxicated, first offense.
Police say a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up what’s alleged to be marijuana.
Cannon was also arrested at that point.
In addition to O-W-I, Glover was also charged with failure to maintain control and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.
Cannon was charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol under the legal age.
The incident took place shortly after 1:30 a.m.
The police department’s canine unit, “Rambo”, assisted in the search of the vehicle.
