(Spirit Lake)– One person was injured Saturday in a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highways nine and 71 and 252nd Avenue on the east edge of Spirit Lake.
Police say it involved cars driven by 44-year-old Earl Bice of Arnolds Park and 23-year-old Douglas Wickman of Bancroft and a motorcycle driven by 43-year-old Shane Von Holdt of Superior.
Authorities say Bice was southbound on 252nd Avenue while Wickman was westbound on Highways nine and 71 when the two collided. Von Holdt, who was also travelling on highways nine and 71, laid down his motorcycle to avoid colliding with the other two vehicles. Von Holdt sustained a leg injury and was taken by private vehicle to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated and released. No other injuries were reported.
Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1987 Chrysler Lebaron driven by Bice; a 1997 Olds Cutlas driven by Wickman sustained an estimated 3,500-dollars in damage; and a 1999 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Von Holdt sustained an estimated one thousand dollars in damage.
Police say Bice was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.
The mishap took place shortly before 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
