Emmet Co. Supervisors Schedule Hearing On Hog Lot Proposal

November 23, 2014

(Estherville)– As Dickinson county squelches plans for a large hog confinement, plans are in the mix for a similar operation in neighboring Emmet county.

The board of supervisors there Tuesday were presented with plans for a 4,160-head operation being proposed for Denmark Township…near the Palo Alto county line.

The permit application has been submitted by Jay Gunderson of rural Ringsted.

The proposed operation would consist of two 310-foot by 51-foot buildings on slightly more than six acres of land with eight-foot-deep concrete pits underneath them. Manure production is estimated at 1.3 million gallons annually.

The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday scheduled a public hearing on the matter for 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17th in Ringsted. Written comments must be submitted to the Emmet County Auditor’s Office by Friday, March 14th.
