High Speed Chase Ends In SW Mn With Driver Shooting Himself

November 23, 2014

(Worthington, Mn.)– A three-state high-speed chase over the weekend ended in southwest Minnesota with the driver shooting himself.

Authorities say the pursuit started in Wyoming where the 21-year-old man stole a vehicle. He drove it to Mitchell, South Dakota where police say he stole and wrecked another vehicle, before taking off in a third.

Minnesota authorities joined in the chase when the suspect entered Rock county on Interstate 90. Stop sticks were deployed across the interstate at Worthington, deflating atleast one of the suspect’s tires. A Nobles county sheriff’s deputy knocked the crippled vehicle into a tailspin. Authorities surrounded the vehicle once it stopped. They heard a single gunshot. No other shots were fired.

The man’s name and hometown haven’t been released.
