(Spirit Lake)– An assistant in the Dickinson County Attorney’s office has resigned after just a couple of months on the job.
The board of supervisors Tuesday accepted the resignation of Dennis Cmelik as an assistant prosecutor, effective immediately.
In submitting his resignation, Cmelik said he had no idea the caseload in Dickinson county is as high as it is. He says it was taking him away too much from his private practice in Hartley.
The supervisors Tuesday approved the appointment of John Martin to that position, at the same salary as what Cmelik was making.
