(Spirit Lake)– The State Auditor’s office has released its annual report on Dickinson county’s finances.
It shows the county had revenue of 27.8 million dollars for the year ended June 30th, 2002, including 804-thousand dollars in tax credits from the state. The county forwarded 23 and-a-half million dollars of the local tax revenue to townships, school districts, cities and other taxing bodies in the county.
4.3 million on the local tax revenue was retained to finance county operations, an 18 percent increase from the prior year. Other revenue included two and-a-half million dollars from the state, including indirect federal funding; almost 835-thousand dollars in local option sales tax money; nearly 57-thousand from the lodging tax and 279-thousand dollars in interest on investments.
Expenditures for the year totaled nine-point-one million dollars…up eight percent from the prior year. Two million dollars was spent on roads and transportation; 1.6 million for capital projects and 1.4 million for public safety.
