(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county and the union that represents deputies, jailers and dispatchers in the Sheriff’s Office have reached a tentative contract agreement.
It includes a three percent pay raise with the insurance package to be the same as that offered to other county employees.
The contract is for one year.
The agreement was reached by bargaining representatives for the union and county during just one negotiating session last week. The two sides had presented initial proposals, then they struck an agreement shortly after that.
Officials on both sides expect the talks to be much more difficult next year.
The board of supervisors will act on the proposed agreement next week.
