(Spirit Lake)– Improvements are in the works for a popular state-owned campground in the Iowa Great Lakes area.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Commissioners will award a bid for a new shower building at the Marble Beach Campground at their monthly meeting this Thursday in Des Moines. A bid opening was held last month. The apparent low bid of 207,113-dollars was submitted by Vaughn DeLoss Construction of Spencer.
The new one-story building will be slightly more than a thousand square feet in size. The work also includes sidewalks, site furniture and minor landscaping work.
The D-N-R commissioners Thursday are also expected to authorize the department to enter into an agreement with the city of Storm Lake to continue the dredging of Storm Lake. The Iowa Legislature has appropriated 350-thousand dollars for the continuation of the project.
