(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in investigating a harassment case.
Police say more than 50 letters of an offensive and harassing nature have been written in the past three months targeting the Spirit Lake school’s girl’s athletics programs, other organized athletic programs, school administrators, coaches, athletes, parents of athletes and school board members.
Authorities say the letters appear to be computer generated, typically folded and stapled shut, written in various fonts and generally a page or shorter in length. The letters are on different colors of paper, including white, orange and lavender.
Police say the letters have been left on motor vehicles, in school buildings and have been sent through the U-S Postal Service.
Anyone with information is highly urged to contact Dickinson County Crimestoppers at 336-2345 or the Spirit Lake Police Department at 336-5776.
Information that leads to an arrest will receive a three-hundred dollar reward. Your name isn’t necessary to make the call.
