Accident Near Spencer Sends Three To The Hospital

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– An accident Wednesday evening near Spencer sent three people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says vehicles driven by 23-year-old Misty Murphy of Terril and 14-year-old Donovan Johnson of Spencer collided at the intersection of Highway 18 and county road M-50 around 6:00 p.m.

Murphy and two passengers in her vehicle, five-year-old Kristalyn Murphy and three-year-old Bobbi Murphy were taken by ambulance to Spencer Municipal Hospital. All three were treated and released.

No injuries were reported to Johnson.

Authorities say Murphy was westbound on Highway 18 while Johnson was southbound on county road M-50. Johnson was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.

2,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 1992 Mercury Sable station wagon driven by Murphy. A 1992 Chevrolet pickup Johnson was driving sustained an estimated four thousand dollars in damage.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Spencer ambulance.
