(Undated)– The unemployment situation in Clay and Dickinson counties eased somewhat in February according to statistics released Thursday by Iowa Workforce Development.
The latest numbers show the combined jobless rate for Clay and Dickinson counties decreased to 4.4 percent in February, compared to 4.7 percent in January. That was still above the statewide rate of four percent.
Chad Shryock, Executive Director of the Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity, says it appears the local unemployment rate peaked in January and is on a gradual downward trend. He expects the trend will accelerate as we get closer to the summer tourist season.
