(Spirit Lake)– A grass fire near Beach’s Resort in the Triboji Beach area west of Spirit Lake Tuesday afternoon burned about an acre and-a-half of land.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to the scene between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m.
Fire Chief Wally Jorgenson says what started out as a controlled burn got out of control and started to quickly spread.
The fire was close to an area of houses, but Jorgenson says none of them were immediately threatened by the fire, which burned close to Highway nine.
No injuries were reported.
The Spirit Lake fire department was on the scene about an hour.
