Pony Express Riders Make Their Way Across Dickinson County

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– The annual Good Friday Pony Express ride through Dickinson county generated more than four thousand dollars in contributions for Camp Sunnyside near Des Moines.

Totals for each town include $393 from Lake Park; $178 in Terril; $1,115.32 in Spirit Lake; $1,335.96 in Milford; $600.35 in Okoboji; $325 in Arnolds Park and $166 in Montgomery. The grand total for Dickinson county was $4,113.63.

And regarding that challenge between the mayors of Lake Park and Milford over which community would have the largest increase in contributions from last year, Milford Mayor Virg Wahlman was the winner. That means Ann Ditsworth, Mayor of Lake Park, will find herself with a shovel behind the horses in this summer’s Pioneer Day Parade in Milford.

Organizers of this year’s Pony Express Ride thank everyone who donated.
