(Arnolds Park)– Hundreds of anglers are cleaning out their tackle boxes and getting their lines ready for the Great Walleye Weekend May 3rd and 4th in the Iowa Great Lakes.
The annual event is a major fundraiser each year for the Easter Seals Society of Iowa. Nancy Bobo is a spokesperson for the organization. She says proceeds go to help children and adults with disabilities or other special needs and their families.
Bobo says they’re on track for another record number of anglers for this year’s event. As of Friday, she says about 1,500 had signed up. Slightly more than 1,400 people participated in last year’s event, which raised more than 22-thousand dollars.
As in past years, anglers will be on the hunt for six specially tagged walleyes with the grand prize of 10-thousand dollars.
Registration forms are available at lakes area bait shops.
