(Estherville)– Ground was broken this (Tues.) afternoon on a new 1.3 million dollar student center at the Estherville campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
The 11,320 square foot facility will include a student area with cyber cafe, a student dining hall and community room, Student Senate offices, a food preparation area and restrooms.
The new student center will be named in honor of Max O. Pelzer, a long time friend of Iowa Lakes. He told the crowd he’s very proud to have played an integral role in the college’s growth over the years.
Christensen Construction of Estherville is the general contractor on the project, which is slated for completion in January.
