Spencer Searches Land Two In Jail On Drug Charges

(Spencer)– Drug-related charges have been filed against two Spencer residents as the result of court papers being filed on one of the subjects.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Alan Steelman and 20-year-old Sondra Wirkus, both of 216 East Second Street apartment two were arrested at about 11:00 p.m. Tuesday after a deputy made contact with them in the 400 block of Fourth Avenue East.

Officials say the initial contact was the result of court ordered papers being served on Wirkus. A subsequent investigation led to the discovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and the two were taken into custody at the scene.

The incident resulted in a search at the residence on east second street that turned up quantities of methamphetamine and additional pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Steelman was charged with possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance-marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were enhanced as the result of previous narcotics convictions against Steelman. He was booked into the Clay county jail. Bond was set at 16,575-dollars.

Wirkus is being held at Spencer Municipal Hospital and faces the same charges as Steelman, although not enhanced.
