(Spencer)– A tip from a Spencer retailer has led to the arrest of two repeat drug offenders in Spencer.
The investigation by Spencer police started Friday night with the search of two businesses-The Waters Edge Fish Store and the Vacuum Center, a home at 3595 240th Avenue in Spencer, an apartment at 125 Grand Avenue and a vehicle parked by the apartment.
During the apartment search, officers found a fire extinguisher that contained anhydrous ammonia. That led to a call to the State Fire Marshall’s Office and a State Patrol lab team for assistance. In addition, officers discovered an inactive meth lab in the vehicle.
Officers made two arrests: 35-year-old Joel Storey and 22-year-old Lisa Van Ampting, both of Spencer. They were both charged with four felony counts of possession of precursors with the intent to manufacture meth. They were booked into the Clay county jail on 39-thousand dollars bond each.
The investigation by the Spencer Police Department is ongoing and authorities say more arrests are likely.
