(Spirit Lake)– The speed limit on a highly traveled road near Milford is about to be reduced.
The board of supervisors Tuesday approved a resolution decreasing the limit on 213th Avenue between county road A-34 and Highway 86 from 55 miles-per-hour currently to 45 miles-per-hour. County Engineer Dan Eckert says a petition was presented by residents of the area in September of last year requesting a 40 mile-per-hour limit. That led to a study by the Iowa Department of Transportation, which recommended a 50 mile-per-hour limit.
Eckert says the new limit will take affect as soon as new signs are erected. He expects that will happen before the end of the week.
That stretch of 213th Avenue is also referred to as the “Clark Museum Road”.
