Hearing On Dickinson Co. Budget Amendment Draws No Comments

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A public hearing on an amendment to the county’s 2003 fiscal year budget drew no comments at Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting.

County Auditor Nancy Reiman says the amendment reflects an unexpected increase in the amount of money the county will collect from a tax increment finance district in the East Okoboji Beach area and the over-expenditure of 25-thousand dollars in juvenile detention services. More juveniles than expected from Dickinson county went through the system in the past year.

Supervisors also Tuesday awarded the low bid of 67,912-dollars for a window replacement project at the Oak Haven Care Facility. The bid, submitted by Northwest Glass Company of Spencer, came in over the estimate of 64,449-dollars. Northwest Glass was the only firm to submit a bid. Officials say the size of the project and an aggressive schedule to get it done by Labor Day were factors in the lack of bidders.
