Sanborn Boy Injured In Car/Bicycle Accident

November 23, 2014

(West Okoboji)– A boy was injured Sunday when a car collided with the bicycle he was riding near the entrance to the Emerson Bay Campground on West Lake Okoboji.

Milford police say 11-year-old Eric Lyman of Sanborn was riding a bike and coming off a side street when he failed to see an oncoming car due to trees and bushes. The car, a 2000 Buick LeSabre driven by 39-year-old Jeffrey Schleisman of Larchwood, Iowa, collided with the bike.

Lyman was treated on the scene by the Milford Rescue Unit. He was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with road rash and an ankle injury.

Authorities say no charges have been filed in the mishap, which occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m.
