(Spirit Lake)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says a beach in the Iowa Great Lakes Area has tested high for e-coli bacteria.
D-N-R officials say samples taken last week at Marble Beach on the northwest side of Big Spirit Lake last week were nearly double the standards for e-coli contamination.
Officials say the beach has been tested again and results are expected early this week. They say if it’s over the limit again, a sign will be posted warning swimmers to stay out of the water.
