Milford Council Votes Nothing At All Be Done With Lower Gar Outlet

November 23, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford City Council voted unanimously Monday to recommend nothing at all be done with the Lower Gar Outlet.

Mayor Virgil Wahlman again said the problem isn’t the city’s, it’s the county’s. He said Milford didn’t experience any flooding in 1993, and as a result the city shouldn’t have to pay anything at all.

Council members in the past have expressed opposition to anything being done with the outlet…especially when it comes to replacing the culverts with a bridge.

After Monday’s vote, a couple of council members said they’d be in favor of an additional culvert, as long as the county pays for it.

The council also Monday approved a motion recommending the Iowa Great Lakes Corridor of Opportunity NOT take a stance either in favor or against the gambling issue.
