(Spencer)– A Spencer man was injured Sunday after being dragged by a car.
Police say 78-year-old James William Carey was struck by a vehicle driven by his wife, 78-year-old Marian Carey, as she was backing the car out of the garage. Authorities say Mr. Carey was behind the car at the time and got caught underneath once he was struck. Police say Mr. Carey was dragged into the street before his wife realized what happened.
Mr. Carey was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital. He was later transferred to Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. The full extent of his injuries wasn’t known.
The incident took place shortly before 4:00 p.m. in the 800 block of West Third Street.
Authorities say it remains under investigation.
