Local State Lawmakers Weigh In On Gambling License Moratorium

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– People on both sides of the gambling controversy are wondering just what the chances are of Iowa’s Racing and Commission lifting its moratorium on gambling licenses as more and more counties schedule gambling referendums.

State Senator David Johnson of Ocheyedan feels the commission probably will rescind it’s moratorium. But he says it’s really anybody’s guess.

State Representative Greg Stevens of Milford says it’s impossible to tell right now what the commission might do. Stevens feels certain though that if the commission decides not to lift the moratorium, that the issue of expanded gambling will come back to the state legislature in the upcoming session.
