(West Des Moines)– A Wahpeton man has been appointed by Governor Vilsack to a group of business leaders that will oversee spending of a 503 million dollar fund designed to spark the state’s economy.
Toby Shine, who operates Shine Brothers Steel in Spencer, is one of 11 members of the panel.
The Governor announced 10 members of the panel at a news conference this (Mon.) morning in West Des Moines. The 11th will be named later this week. The Iowa Senate must confirm the board members, but little opposition is expected.
During a special session, the Iowa legislature approved the fund to lure the biotech industry and other companies to the state. The measure doesn’t spell out details of how the money will be spent, but calls for an 11-member board to oversee the spending.
