(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors voted four-to-one Tuesday to lower the speed limit on County Road A-34 just east of Milford.
Under the motion, the limit will drop from 55 to 45 miles-per-hour from just west of the intersection with 240th Avenue…or the Pelican Ridge Road…west to 230th Avenue. From there west to Milford it will drop from 45 miles-per-hour currently to 35 miles-per-hour.
Supervisor David Gottsche cast the lone no vote, saying he feels the new limit is too low for that area.
The city of Milford requested the lower limit due to a residential development, a gravel pit and the county’s new compost site that are all in that area.
The new limits will take effect as soon as new signs go up. That’s expected to take place in the next week or so.
