Rural Round Lake Man Indicted In Federal Court For Bank Robbery

November 23, 2014

(Minneapolis, Mn.)– A rural Round Lake, Mn. man has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Minneapolis in connection with the June 3rd armed robbery of United Prairie Bank in Round Lake.

Authorities allege 27-year-old Jose Angel Almendares entered the bank that day armed with what appeared to be a handgun. He was arrested three days later following an investigation by the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office and the F-B-I.

Almendares is accused of taking 7,852-dollars from the bank, including 12 marked 20 dollar bills.

A criminal complaint filed in U-S District Court says Almendares was having his car repaired in Lake Park and that he allegedly tried to pay the bill a day after the robbery with some of the marked money.
