(Emmetsburg)– Those who saw a large amount of law enforcement officers on the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes Community College today (Friday) can rest assured–it was just a drill.
Officials say the scenario of the drill consisted of a shooting with injuries. Iowa Lakes staff and students played supporting roles in the drill which served to enhance emergency response skills of those involved.
The drill involved the Emmetsburg Police Department, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, along with Palo Alto County Emergency Medical Services and Health System.
Officials say the drill had been in the planning stages since early this year. It was lead by Mark Hunefeld of Palo Alto County Emergency Management.
