(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Tuesday on Highway 71 on the north edge of Spencer near Spencer Livestock Sales sent one person to the hospital.
The Iowa State Patrol says 72-year-old Robert Grienke of Alta was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup and 75-year-old Beverly Christensen of Royal was driving a 2008 Chrysler.
Troopers say Grienke was turning west into Spencer Livestock from Highway 71 when he pulled out in front of Christensen, who was southbound. They say Christensen tried to brake but was unable to avoid a collision.
Christensen was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. No injuries were reported to Grienke.
Three thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the pickup driven by Grienke; five thousand to the car driven by Christensen.
The collision took place around 11:45 a.m.
