(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a Spirit Lake man in connection with a crash Saturday night at the corner of 28th Street and Keokuk Avenue in Spirit Lake.
Police say 20-year-old Nathan Silberstein of Spirit Lake was driving a 1988 Chevrolet eastbound on 28th Street and had gone through the Keokuk Avenue intersection when he collided with a properly parked 1995 Chevrolet truck owned by Douglas Kness of Spirit Lake. The impact pushed the truck into a mailbox owned by Greg Van Sickle of Spirit Lake.
Silberstein sustained a minor injury in the crash, but declined transport to the hospital.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to the scene as a precaution.
Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle driven by Silberstein; the pickup owned by Kness sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage; and about six hundred dollars in damage was estimated to the mailbox owned by Van Sickle.
Silberstein was charged with operating while intoxicated, driving while under suspension, failure to stop at a stop sign and no insurance.
The crash took place shortly after 11:30 Saturday night.
