Minor Injuries Reported In Pickup/Train Collision Near Lake Park

(Lake Park)– Minor injuries were reported Saturday when a pickup collided with a train four miles southeast of Lake Park.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says a pickup driven by 54-year-old Keith Rimmer of rural Lake Park was northbound on 170th Avenue when he came over a hill and didn’t see an Iowa Northwestern Railroad passenger train that was approaching from the west. Rimmer collided with the train’s first passenger car.

Rimmer was treated on the scene for some minor injuries, but wasn’t transported to the hospital.

No one on the train was injured.

A 2002 Ford pickup Rimmer was driving was described as a total loss. About 10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the train.

The mishap took place shortly after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
