(Spirit Lake)– The Good Neighbor Fund of the Okoboji-Spirit Lake area is gearing up for its 2004 fundraising campaign.
Organizers say this year’s goal has been set at 71,300-dollars. Last year’s goal of 60-thousand was surpassed when 62,300-dollars was raised.
13 local charities requested 75,800-dollars at Monday’s Good Neighbor Fund board meeting. Those requests were later adjusted downward to reflect the 71,300-dollar goal.
Organizations that receive funding include the Voluntary Action Center, Center Against Abuse and Sexual Assualt, Salvation Army, Lakota Council Girl Scouts, Mid-America Council Boy Scouts, Iowa Great Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross, Time Out Nursery, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, Camp Foster YMCA, Dickinson County Kinship, Discovery House, Northwest Iowa Humane Society and Echo-Plus.
The fundraising campaign will start next month.
This is the 44th year for the Good Neighbor Fund.
