(Orleans)– An overheated transformer in a substation knocked out power friday afternoon to portions of Spirit Lake and Orleans.
Officials with Alliant Energy say a transformer in a substation just south of St. Margaret’s Cemetary on Peoria Avenue overheated and started to smoke.
Power was out in some places for nearly two hours.
